Again. I'm sorry for the lack of updates, but I have been simply swamped with my real job and other paying side jobs lately. As a reiteration of the previous news post, Kristian and I are going to begin on a new site layout very soon. Also, Ultrafuge is now ready to hit the studio the record the next EP. Please be patient with us while the site undergoes this upcoming redesign. Thanks. Also, Ultrafuge has a show on the 26th of December at the Hurricane so make it out if you can.

Hey Guys! Sorry for not updating the site in awhile. I have some new news from the Ultrafuge front. Check the shows page as Ultrafuge will be playing next weekend in Iowa. In addition, I spoke with Kristian today and have been informed that Ultrafuge are preparing to enter the studio to record an EP entitled "Immaculate Deception". It's being recorded at Studio Abduction in Independence and should be out by the new year. I will keep you informed as new information rolls in on that. Also, Ultrafuge is no longer on Enrichment Records and will be looking for a new label very soon. One last thing, Kristian and I spoke, and we are going to begin a massive redesign of the Ultrafuge website, including our verry own domain name (www.ultrafuge.com) so be on the lookout for that. More information as it becomes available.

Ultrafuge is BACK!! The guys have all healed up great and are ready to play again. I've posted 3 NEW FUCKING SHOWS on the shows page. Check it out and come see our guys. They were invited back this year for 98.9's battle of the bands at America's Pub so EVERYONE, and I mean EVERYONE needs to come out to the show to support the guys. I can't remember off the top of my head all the competition in this years battle, but I know that Killswitch is in, and Thrust is out. With Killswitch being the in the running, Ultrafuge has some pretty stout competition, so make sure you get out there to support our guys.

Hey Guys. Some more big news for you. This Saturday's show and any and all future shows have been cancelled for the time being. Apparently Nick busted his leg the other day while playing softball. I will keep you informed of any changes in their schedule. Ultrafuge apologizes for this mishap and promises to kick everyones ass again after Nick has recovered sufficiently.

Here is Saturday's show review from the Pitch Weekly:
Ultrafuge/Gunfighter/String and Return
Davey's Uptown
Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000
Reviewed by Kent Downing

On Saturday night, the full moon beckoned many to come out and revel beneath its shine. The good-sized crowd that was called to Davey's Uptown caught three local bands making the most of their amplifiers.

String and Return kicked the night off, beginning its set with bass and guitar drones that switched from high to low tones over a crawling rhythm. After a few lines of raspy vocals, the quartet exploded into full blown noise, which was fattened by wavering feedback. Full of melodic echoes, this group offers a good hint at what My Bloody Valentine might have sounded like with a male singer. On "Hard Hearted," a dreary tune that would've fit well on Radiohead's OK Computer, vocals laden with emotion blended well with streaming guitar tones while the rhythm section led the band though adventurous time changes.

Gunfighter started its set by selling a T-shirt to a member of the audience. After completing the transaction, the four members (on drums, bass, two guitars, and a pair of vocals) displayed their talent for playing upbeat noise rock with slight traces of punk. Streaming chords thick with reverb pervade Gunfighter's songs, setting the stage for powerful jams and vocals that range from abrasive screams to soft, harmonious wails that bring to mind Bob Mould. Extended feedback led in and out of songs filled with bouncy guitar riffs, steady basslines, and fluttering walls of distortion. Both guitarists sang, and whether harmonizing or exchanging melodic dialogue, the two fed off each other well. In one riveting number, presumably about lost love, scathing vocals sarcastically asked, "Trust you?" The obvious answer to this rhetorical question was screamed by both guitarists, and then emphasized further by resonating power-chords.

Pumped with excitement over the release of The Wake, its debut CD, Ultrafuge closed out the night with a powerful set of its heavy, punk influenced rock with distorted guitar, thundering rhythms to rival bands such as Limp Bizkit and Rage Against the Machine, and often-screamed, effects-soaked vocals that pounded emphasis into every syllable. Many in the crowd seemed deeply affected by Ultrafuge's music, often pogoing with defiant fists in the air. When Ultrafuge ended its set, the crowd protested loudly. For an encore, the band appropriately chose a rocking song called "Over and Out."

Some big news for you guys. Saturday night, Nathan Hockman, bassist for ultrafuge got into a terrible accident on his way to leave for the Iowa show. He has apparently broken his collarbone. He wasn't able to play the Iowa show, so Thad asked me to step in for him Saturday night. I did, and seeing as how I was forced to learn 6 songs in about 3 hours time, I don't think I did too terribly bad. Anyway, I guess Nathan is out for a good while, meaning I'm not sure what is going to happen to the next two shows. They may ask me to step in again, (if so, I'll practice, I promise). We all wish Nathan (along with everyone else who was in the accident) a speedy recovery and hope to see him on stage very soon.

Got some more shows for you. Check the shows page for details. Thad should have a CD to me by next week some time so check back for sound files. They may be a little delayed as I am preparing to finish school. Updates should come more regularly though.
